Current research projects
To understand protein self-organization, we work on cellular processes from prokaryotic as well as eukaryotic cells. Specifically, the research in our group is centered around two general research questions:
Bacterial cell division:
We are using in vitro reconstitution to understand the mechanism of bacterial cell division.
Small GTPase networks:
We are rebuilding the biochemical networks underlying small GTPase signaling to study their self-organized, emergent properties.
Both research directions benefit from our strong expertise in protein biochemistry, biomimetic membrane systems, fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.
